day 17 part 2

  • Aug. 17th, 2008 at 7:17 AM

Hey everyone!
sorry i havent been able to keep up on this as well as i did the first part. We have been tryin our hardest to stay as froogle as possible. And some hotels dont have the greatest wifi, but we do our best. Were in Dayton Ohio now gonna be making our way up to Columbus by tonight. Since we dont have a driver this second half me and stephan switch off driving and skating so we can make some serious distance each day without getting as tired as we would have skating straight the whole way.

We did meet up with tyler in Columbus and that was pretty fun, I havent seen him in the longest time, we went to his restaraunt and he hooked it up with food and drinks, and we ended up chillin the whole night with him over at his place. Well probably be stopping by on our way back, after tylers we headed up to mexico Missouri to go see Uncle Mark on his farm. What a cool place so out there, We had some fun riding his 4wheeler around on the property and just hangin out at his house with him and Lucinda. It was a cool expierence and im glad i got to meet up with some family I havent gotten to see for a few years. We plan on being in Virginia Beach by the 24th so were really pushing the limits on how far we can skate each day, and when we get to VB we have some plans on meeting up with Adam S. who if youve ever seen other longboard videos besides mine he rides for Loaded Longboards. And has had a reputation with Adam  Colton for the longest while. Hes supposed to be a pretty good rider so me and Stephan are pretty excited to ride with someone at our level.

We stayed in Terre Haute a couple days back and we met some real cool kids. I wanna do a shoutout to my buddy black Cameron, hell be in our next video learnin how to skate and doin some cool moves of his own, he was reppin the brutha dood shirts real hard.

but as for now were just packin up the rest of the room and tryin to make our way down to the continental breakfast so i will be gettin off now.
Hope to hear from everyone,
Scott--

day 9 part 2

  • Aug. 9th, 2008 at 6:42 PM

We are staying in Riverside Missouri, right outside Kansas city Missouri. I met up with my grandpa that lives out here and we got some dinner and made up for lost time, it was pretty cool. Missouri seems to be a little more open and fun that Kansas was so im excited for the next few days. Cousin Tyler lives in Columbia Missouri so we should be hitting him up when we get into town tomorrow. We like to see people we know in different towns we come through. So if your in our tracks on the way to Virginia beach let me know and we could figure somethin out.
We were on abc news the other morning, if u wanna check it out the link is:

We should be in Salina tomorrow and on the 8th we will be gettin into Kansas City offically in Missouri. We have been skating really hard and get as much sleep as we can. So far Kansas has been pretty boring, not too many people, although we did meet a few cool guys. Im real excited for whats in store ahead. The trip is only going to last us till the 24th of August. So keep with me till then, im sure of more excitement on the trip.

day 22

  • Jul. 23rd, 2008 at 1:38 PM

We ended up sleeping in the car once again. There was only a couple hotels in duchesne so we figured it was prob best to just save some money. Whenever we sleep in the car we always have to double stretch just because all our muscles were rested in funny positions. Our destination today is Vernal Utah, which should be our last stop in Utah! How exciting, and today should be another day of just open road mostly, not too many cities that well pass through. So were taking off.
Peace

day 21

  • Jul. 23rd, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Left the campsite again early in the morning. The sun woke us up heating up our tent, our destination for today is duchesne utah. The roads are pretty boring through this strech, not too much to see besides some lakes and more open road. Were getting closer to colorado with every push we take, and were all real excited to see everyone back at home.
Lets hope for a good day.
laterzz

day 20

  • Jun. 30th, 2008 at 8:20 AM

We hit the road real early in the morning hoping to get a nice cool skating day off our backs, were almost in colorado so for the next few days were gonna pump our hardest to try and get back to the springs so we can see all our friends and family again. Were pretty excited. Our destination today is Ducsesne Utah, pretty much on the eastern border of Utah. Its not a very big town so theres a good chance well just get there and post up tent. Its a far skate im sure well be exahusted by the time we get there. We ended up sleepin in some rv park the owner let us post up tent for free since we explained to him the situation we are in.  Its soo hott, were passing out.

day 19

  • Jun. 29th, 2008 at 7:09 PM

National Go skateboarding day was a hit, Stephan and I met up with Will from Kahuna Creations and we ended up going to some mountain-side road and got some footage of us bombin down the hill, maybe catchin a few slides. When we got to the hill the first thing we realized that we forgot both pairs of our slide gloves back at our hotel room. So we had to improvise and go old School, we picked up good 5 pound stones in each hand and used them to slide with. Bombing down the hill goin about 35- 40- mph flyin down this hill then kickin down sideways sliding for like 50 feet with only the rocks holding us up, it should make for a pretty intense video. We even got a big group of roadbikers who parked and were watchin us kill some tricks. It was fun, but afterwards when we got all our footy me and stephan decided it was probably time to keep chuggin, maybe head down to the next town. which on the list was Heber City utah. We took the skate down there pretty easy, and set up camp for the night when we got there.
not much else happened that night, so well catch yall later.
good day

day 17

  • Jun. 23rd, 2008 at 7:53 PM

We got into Ogden today, it was about a 50 mile skate which wasnt that bad. The roads were real crappy, alot of gravel and the drivers were real careless. We drove around when we got into town and we headed straight over to the Kahuna Creations factory. The owner Steve is in Hawaii, so we were just chillin with the other employees. We did the usual thing where we chilled out in the parking lot just skating back n forth doing our list of tricks. The marketing director Audrey she gave us her credit card and told us to have dinner on them, so me and stephan hit up Texas Roadhouse and had a Steak dinner, I was so full. We later that night met back up with Audrey and we drove down to Salt Lake City and she set us up with a place to stay at her friend Jens house. We got a comfy air matress and we plan on chillin in Salt Lake till the 21st, which is National Skate day. We hit up a dance club tonight called Area, it was real fun, i guess every thursday its 80's night. So they played oldies and remixs that were real bumpin. But that went till about 2 am, and now were really tired. Probably gonna put in a movie and hit the sack. So its been a pretty good day overall. We dont have to skate tomorrow, well we will skate, but we dont have to leave town, so were pretty excited to just check out the town. Well goodnight everyone.

day 16

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 8:55 PM

The ground ended up being real unlevel last night, and the spot that we picked out in the dark wasnt the greatest of spots. But we apparently made due. We skated real hard today, gettin a sort of relay action goin, giving us breaks every few miles. We got all the way down to snowville Utah. Were almost back to the springs, were all real excited. We found an RV campground that let us set up our tent in this grassy field. It looks like it should be pretty comfortable. Were hoping that we can make it down to Ogden tomorrow, thats where our sponsors are located and the 21st is national "go skate day" so were supposed to go film a video with Kahuna Creations that day. Our driver nick is having to go home when we get there so hopefully we can find another driver soon, or maybe figure out some other system. My dad offered to take a grey hound out to Ogden to meet up with us if were needing the driver still. So hopefully we can figure out some deal. But having my dad along on the trip would be an expierence, hes a real cool dood, I love him a lot and i think that him being on the trip would be some good bond time. So were cookin up some hamburger helper and probably gonna hit the sack here pretty soon. See everyone in the AM. Night

day 15

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 8:53 PM

Got a real good nights sleep, we decided today was just gonna be a chill out day, theres a mall in Boise which will be the first one weve seen in awhile. Im gettin my first tattoo today! Just the SD logo for san diego, gotta rep that home town, pretty excited. Ill be sure to put up some pictures once i figure out how to do all that. We plan on headin to a town called Bliss. When we got there we were talkin to this girl that was working at the gas station, she said there was only like 7 people in their schools graduating class, pretty intense. We were plannin on campin out by the river bed but when we were checkin out the spots they were bug infested to the max, so we ended up drivin up hill a little and pitchin the tent by the side of the road. It ended up bein a pretty legit spot, we bought a bag of coals and we dug a hole and boiled some water made some mac-n-cheese. It was a very fulfilling dinner. Putting all of our camping knowledge together we get everything done real fast. Camping is actually pretty relaxing. Just getting away from everything. But were crashin for the night. Shoots everyone.

day 14

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 8:50 PM

Had a pretty bad neck cramp this morning, made sure to strech out real good though. We offically got into Idaho today, which was pretty exciting. We decided that whenever we enter a new state that were gonna film the sign that says now entering for the documentary that we plan on putting together once the trip is finished. We hit the road, our destination today.. Boise Idaho, weve heard some good stuff about Boise so far, but its supposed to be a journey so we gotta pump out the miles today. Im really starting to get the hang of skating real long distances everyday, my body is starting to get really fit for the conditions, and doin 60 or 70 miles a day feels like nothing. When we finally got into Boise we decided we deserve another shower cuz we were really startin to stink from the past few days, we posted up in our hotel room and got to soak in the hot tub and relax our muscles which was real nice. We met a couple from arizona, we got to bbq with them and it was nice to have some company that we actually got to chill with all night. Not too much else happened the rest of the night. We eventually passed out, what a surprise. But it was a nice day.

day 13

  • Jun. 19th, 2008 at 8:48 PM

The next day we skated down to Ontario, which is right on the border of Oregon and Idaho. There was no reasonable priced hotels so we ended up staying in our second homes parking lot (Walmart). We got the sleeping in the car system down pat, we can even fit in our sleeping bags then sit back in our seats and we have just enough room in the back of my 4runner that we can recline all the seats back and still have one person lay on the back seat and were all semi-comfortable. We packed up on some just add hot water foods so we could maybe save some of the little money we have and make it last a little longer. We talked to our sponsors today and they think after the weekend they were gonna put some dough in our accounts to throw down on some essentials. I split a fiber in my new BruthaDood model deck today when we were filming, I guess the boards are going through a dry streak and the genre of riding that were getting into is just putting to much pressure on them. But now when i stand on the board it sinks a little more than its supposed to. Making for a little uncomfortable ride... But we can make due, i think in the next couple days im going to switch out the wheels on my BD deck and throw them on my Pro 40, since i waterlogged the wheels from day 1's ride. But thats just about it for the day. Until tomorrow.

day 12

  • Jun. 16th, 2008 at 10:24 PM

I woke up last out of our group this morning. But luckily Stephan and Nick were up and around the fire boiling water so we can make some cup-a-noodles for breakfast. We chilled at camp until like 8, then we hit the roads and skated our hearts out. It was a real long day, in the heat of the desert, I am really dark now and until i shower I probably have a good 10 layers of sunscreen and bug spray. We got into Idaho and were all real tired. Were probably just going to find a camp spot and crash for the night. But unless anything else comes up our day has ended. Were all really glad to be out of Oregon. I hope Idaho has as many crazy times ahead of us as Oregon did. Night everyone

day 11

  • Jun. 16th, 2008 at 10:22 PM

We were like the second team to leave this morning.Gettin a big head start on all the bikers. Going through big mountain sides, the roads were real crappy, we kinda started gettin lazy and skitched behind the car for a few miles. When we got into the national forest area we set up camp inbetween Prarie City and Unity Oregon. It was a dinky little camp site but we set up a real huge fire. (tamed tho) Were all startin to get pretty home sick, but we no we have a mission to fulfill. Were gonna be in Idaho tomorrow. Were all real excited to be comin into colorado in about 2 weeks, and were supposed to be visiting our sponsor Kahuna Creations in Utah Before we get there. Were gonna pass out for the night though. So ill talk to everyone tomorrow. Night

day 10

  • Jun. 16th, 2008 at 10:19 PM

We hit the road early that morning. Heading up towards the next town, we are planning on going all the way to Mitchell. The next town we are coming into is called Redmond, which like a lot of the small towns in Oregon has nothing but run down mills and a lot of grassland. So we skated through the small towns and we came up to a big lake, we really wanted to go swmming. but ended up keep going. When we eventually got to Mitchell it reminded me of a real small ghost town. We were driving down the abandoned street we came up to a park which turned out to be an old schools play yard. We saw some hippy chicks in a tent on the park so we parked and saw the sign that said it was free to camp at the park. So that was probably one of the most legit camping spots so far. It turned out that the hippy chicks were biking across america at the same time and as the night went on there was about 2 or 3 more couples that ended up staying at the park too. It turned up that oddly enough they were all bikeing across america. They all thought that since we are skating the same distance that there bikeing that we were like super heros. They all took pictures and we had a good time. It turned out that one of the people that live in Mitchell owns a run down gas station. And behind the station theres a big enclosure that holds a Black bear named Henry. What an amazing thing to see up close, he was raised in a bear rescue place. He was a real friendly bear and turned out to really love knocking down our boards when we would rest them on his cage. But as little as Mitchell was it turned out to be pretty tight. Headin to bed now. Talk to everyone soon

day 9

  • Jun. 13th, 2008 at 9:49 AM

So we woke up in the mountains and after a few pop tarts (frozen) we skated the last leg towards Sisters. Getting there in what seemed no time at all. Skating in the mornings makes everything a little bit easier. A lot less traffic and its a lot cooler. We started making our way towards Bend Oregon about another 20 miles. Theres a Walmart there so hopefully it'll be a little bigger town so we will be able to stop and get some food. We get stopped by two state troopers. And both times they asked us what we were doing, when we explained to them the situation we were in they were pumped. He said we were some pretty hard core doods. But skating to bend was pretty much all up hill, not very fun. We got in town and went straight to a place called Izzy's pizza. We ate so much i thought i was gonna burst. We drove down to the Dune's Motel and settled down, theres a swimming pool, hott tub, and work out room. So we explored that for a little, swimming some laps and relaxing our very sore muscles in the tub. It was very needed. We hopped on our boards and explored what the town had to offer.. and like most oregon towns theres not too much to do. So thats pretty much how our night ended just relaxing in the hotel, everyone took like 5 showers just cuz it felt so nice. But im off to bed.

Until tomorrow......

day 8

  • Jun. 12th, 2008 at 4:08 PM

Hey! so we woke up around 8 or 9 this morning, and had a minor drawback that we had to deal with, our driver Nick Trees had fallen and cracked his head about a week and one day ago (right before we left for our trip) he had to go to the hospital and get three staples put in. This morning we had to find a local hospital and get them removed so his head wouldnt heal funny. While he was doing that me and Stephan were over in Burger King across the street stealing wifi trying to set up our map to send to our sponsor Kahuna Creations. After a good 30 or 45 min and talking to Jack Smith (former skate across america dood) we set out from Burger King and headed towards Lebanon. About 20 or so miles later we started realizing how small Oregons towns were so we instantly headed out to Sweet Home Oregon. About anouther 20 miles or so. When we got to Sweet Home it was probably a little smaller than Lebanon and they didnt even have a Walmart that we could camp out at. The next city that we were coming up across was Sisters Oregon. About 60 or 70 miles away. And its all located on a mountain pass which isnt the best terrain to skate across. So we set off that day packing supplies from the local Safeway, we didnt expect to be able to make the whole journey in one day so we were going to make as much miles today as possible. Gettin about half way we decided to stop and camp out, even though the snow was a factor and it made the night very cold. But we jumped in the sleeping bags, jumped in my car, and passed out for the night. What a way to end the day.

Night everyone.
